Saving Private Ryan is a 1998 film about the invasion of Normandy during World War II. It begins with the landings at Omaha Beach, where a platoon of U.S. Army Rangers, led by Captain James Miller, punch through the German defenses and make their way inland. They're given a specialized mission to find Private James Francis Ryan so he can be brought home to America after his three brothers are killed in action. The film stars Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, Edward Burns, Adam Goldberg

P-51 Mustang Edit

This plane is not seen until the last few minutes of the film when they arrive in support of the advancing forces that come to relieve Miller and his platoon at the fictional French town of Ramelle. Pvt. Ryan refers to them as "tank smashers" meaning they were armed with ordnance meant to destroy tanks. It is notable that the plane seems to be popular with director Steven Spielberg, who also used it in his other World War II film, Empire of the Sun.

WACO CG-4A (Cargo Glider Model 4) Hadrian Edit

This glider was used to drop paratroopers behind enemy lines & was towed behind the C-47 to carry extra troops. One is seen in the scene where Captain Miller's men search through a sack of dog tags looking for Pvt. Ryan's name among them.
